Great podcast, Josh. I've already commented on YouTube (under a different handle). I agree that jubilation about the closing of Tavistock's gender abbatoir may be premature. However, I do have confidence, or maybe hope at best, that the opening of two initial regional gender services may be better than the Tavistock clinic. With the light shone on the dereliction of care in the NHS by the Cass Report, I am hopeful that her recommendations of a holistic care model involving multi-disciplinary health and social care services will be implemented and followed. The NHS does have rigorous protocols, data collection and research models for which it is noted world wide. Unfortunately these were ignored in this one clinic due to institutional capture by organisations like Stonewall and Mermaids, and adherence to post-modernist claptrap. This has never happened in the NHS before, and I do believe will not happen again. Jubilation must be tempered with constant vigilance. And there is more and more of that in the UK. We have a growing body of activists, feminists and politicians who are speaking more and more loudly amd unequivocally about this genital butchery and the threats posed to women's single sex spaces for me to be cautiously optimistic.

I'm right there with you on the transgender crap. It's disgusting and appalling and terrifying in ways people can't even fathom.

A little history: In the early 1960s, Johns Hopkins was in the forefront of gender-identity science, and its Baltimore hospital was the site of the nation's first gender-affirmation surgery (then "change of sex operation") in 1966. Hopkins halted surgeries in 1979 while Paul McHugh was the chief of psychiatry. McHugh believed that by conducting surgeries "Hopkins was fundamentally cooperating with a mental illness," concurring with the findings of a study by Jon Meyer, who ran the hospital's Sexual Behaviors Consultation Unit. Meyer hypothesized that sex change surgery conveys "no objective advantage in terms of social rehabilitation." I believe both McHugh and Meyer remain associated with Hopkins, although McHugh's tenure as head of psychiatry ended in 2001.

The Johns Hopkins clinic, which was the first in the US to do this treatment, closed because of the number of patients who returned wanting to be reversed back to the original gender.

Yeah.

And then you have this:

As for the feminism shitcanery? I'm a 60 year old female. That means I grew up in the 60s/70s and "benefitted" from the push to empower women. And then the lickspittles just kept pushing the envelope. I was the biggest tomboy ever. The best birthday gift my husband ever got me? A battery powered nail gun that had the power to sink 3" nails! Booyah! 3rd wave, 4th wave, radicals, I don't care what the hell you call them, they are, to borrow a Rush word, FemaNazis. Their war on men and the ever looming patriarchy is bullshit on stilts. Grow up. You have Agency. The male patriarchy does not oppress you. YOU oppress you. YOU believe your own bullshit and YOU wallow in it. YOU hold yourself back. Are some men assholes? Yes. But so are a lot of women.

And just today, if I had gone when my light turned green I would have been t-boned and likely seriously injured if not killed. Five cars went through when my light was green. I counted. And I honked. Several times. Why the hell does no one else honk at these reckless assholes? My dad began imparting words of wisdom to me when I was 14 and permit time, and eventually driving unsupervised, approached. "Just because your light turns green does not mean you should go. Always glance to make sure peckerwoods are following the law." Why does no one else honk??

P.S. I am a 66-year old female. I wasn’t aware that the term ‘Feminist’ had become so corrupted until Joshua Slocum’s media messages.

About 12 years ago I was "introduced", via the mostly conservative commenters on a liberal law professor's blog, to Camille Paglia. I vaguely knew the name but never felt compelled to read or research anything she had contributed to the world, but when quotes appear that resonate, you crawl through a few Google searches. She raised my eyebrows in more ways than one but she is dead on. And the current few crops of "feminists" despise her. Here's a pretty decent example of her thinking:

It’s a sign of the times that the famed

Tavistock, of John Bowlby fame, where he led for 30+ years and developed his seminal work on attachment theory, has been destroyed by our delusional culture. He would be horrified to see it.

I am sorry the Chinese lady, or whatever Asian, lady made you uncomfortable. I was angry listening. It would’ve been more than appropriate to conjure your inner cat. Let her do her performative martyrdom and only after she finishes the defuzzing, take your jacket back and say, I will take my business elsewhere from now on. Let her suck on that. People like her feed off of your discomfort. The only way to go is to give it back. They hide behind the regular Joe and Jane’s observing politeness, and judgement of breaking decorum. There’s non lost decorum in holding up a mirror to show someone their reflection. If it’s ugly, that’s not on you. It’s their ugly.

Good show. I appreciate your clarity, Josh.
