It’s about a year since I launched this Substack. It started off as my personal writing spot, but it’s now part of Disaffected, the project I share with my friend and producer, Kevin Hurley. Thank you if you’re reading this. Thank you especially if you’ve subscribed. Thank you more especially if you’ve bought a paid subscription. Making a living as a writer or person in a (ugh, hate this word) “creative” field isn’t easy.
Josh, I hope you find more avenues to be able to live comfortably while enjoying your work life. Thank YOU for sharing your thoughts with all of us. I truly benefit from them.

I kid. I hadn’t even thought about the word “creatives” as it’s used now, as in “content creators.” That’s a weird term to me. I feel like “writer” does enough work on its own, as does “journalist.”
I had to "like" every single comment because they echo my thoughts as well. When I see a Disaffected email pop up in my feed, I hurry over to see just what it is that guy Josh has got on his mind today. You are a pleasure to watch and read and if I may say from experience, you offer a great ear for listening to those of us who need someone to talk to about those pesky people problems piquing our paradigms 😉...and the advice ain't bad either.
A big, heartfelt THANK YOU to you and Kevin! You've made me think about so many things on deeper levels, which can only lead to being a better human, if you want it to. I thank you, my husband thanks you, my kids thank you, and our new kitty thanks you! 😊

I am really enjoying your view point on so many diverse issues. I especially like the ones on Cluster B mothers because I truly believe I was raised with one, although nothing as horrid as your upbringing. Keep up the great work, Josh. Your are doing a good service to humanity.

Josh I discovered you on Minds of all places. I don't remember when I became a paid subscriber the first time--PayPal--but I haven't missed an episode since the beginning. My husband and I had been talking about narcissistic abuse and how society is acting like an abusive spouse or parent, and there you were putting it into precise language. Honestly the ability to laugh with you in the face of all of this is the sanity-saving part of my week.
