I was just watching a Rick Beato video last night, specifically this one about AI music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eAQOhDNLt4

He points out that in some cases, people might like the AI music better than the original artists - and how technological advancement is inexorable. But something is lost. Just as autotune swept the industry and sucked out the soul in some ways, AI music is likely to do something similar.

Real music that communicates directly to one's soul is difficult to fake. But the AI gets better every day...

Sometimes when I need something nostalgic to make me smile, I love listening to Kids react to.....(Queen, Hair Bands, old music videos etc.). I have never heard of Rick Beato, but I will definitely check him out.

Rick Beato is a national treasure. I am a casually professional musician (I get paid every once in while, but not much and not often...) but I have the pleasure of wide acquaintance with more serious performers and all of them revere Rick Beato and get excited every time he posts a new video. He is not only knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the material, he is incredibly generous. His tribute to Gordon Lightfoot on his passing a few weeks ago had me in tears.

Of course just hearing her magnificent voice brought tears to my eyes. Such a massive talent, gripped by this horrendous condition that, at the time, was virtually unheard of.

Thank you for this Josh!! I didn't even know about Rick Beato before today but - now I am already hooked!

As a product of the 70's, one of my earliest and best memories are of my Mom and I, in her car and listening to the radio (AM, of course - lol). Whenever a Carpenter song would come on - Mom would turn the volume up and we would both start singing along. I think "Top of the World" was the first Carpenter song I learned by heart. As a teenager in the early 80's, my secret escape from whatever angst of the moment I was feeling, was to sit on my bedroom floor in front of my record player, headphones on and playing the Carpenters records over and over - "Rainy Days and Mondays" - in particular. Karen's voice and the words she sung had the dual effect of breaking my heart while providing a soothing elixir.

Today - hearing any of their songs will inevitably put me into a nostalgic trance - in the best possible sense. Nostalgic for so many things - not the least of which is music that actually can send a shiver down your spine and memories of the person with whom I first sung a Carpenters song and who was the center of my universe and my best friend - my late, beloved Mom.

I love Rick Beato~! He has some good episodes on Tori Amos, too, and Chris Cornell(who, like Epstein, didn't kill himself. Josh- watch 'the widow's' behavior- straight-up narc, and Chris was the kind of empath they love to target, and he figured that out. He was about to leave, I think- the dangerous time....)

I love watching Rick Beato videos, his enthusiasm is so infectious even when he's saying stuff only a trained musician can understand. Thanks for this.

Josh, you and I have very similar YouTube tastes! I love Rick Beato! I was a musician in a former life, and the depth of his theory knowledge and the way he explains music theory tickles my nerd gland. One of my favorites is his “What Makes This Song Great” review of Gordon Lightfoot’s “If You Could Read My Mind.” It’s beautiful 😊

I'm scanning through Rick's video backlog right now. I'm intrigued that he's apparently covered some of Tori Amos's stuff. I was obsessed with her album Scarlet's Walk as a teen, I hope he's covered it!
