I’m going to give you one line from a movie, and you have to identify it in the comments. Here are the rules: 1. Give the name of the movie you think it is Give your age and sex Tell me if you’re straight or gay Since others will correctly identify the movie in the comments, there’s no such thing as a “winner” or “spoiler.” Go ahead and answer anyway, based on
Mr. Joshua, while I have a chance of grabbing your attention - you remember the “resisters” thread you made? Where you asked people to share their stories of resisting tyranny in the comments?
Could you please do one for goblins & one for moments of humanity? It would give people places to post the relevant stories! Just an idea & I hope you consider it!
59, F, straight.Death becomes her. Funny enough, this was my oldest daughter’s (36 now) movie when she was around 9 or 10. It quickly became one of mine. Bruce Willis was so good... he never did much comedy outside of the tv series Moonlighting.
Great game! I saw that movie recently, again, but didn’t think of it at all. I don’t know how to label myself. What about Bis? It’s not on offer. Not sure if there’s a philosophy about that. I’ve heard the validity of the Bi experience, as a sexual orientation/identity, rejected by both gay men and lesbians. If you have a choice, you straight (or so I heard). But even then, it really isn’t an accurate label for me, given what my actual life has looked over the past 2 decades. I guess we can go with straight , as that’s what I am doing now (with no desire to do something different. It took a while but I found my mate). I am 54 .
I wasn’t coming from that direction. I was mostly working thru my own uncertainty about how that even fits me anymore. Sorry if my communication was unclear. I don’t believe anyone erases anyone, btw.
AndI I didn’t intend to bash the argument I referred to, namely that the Bi experience is fundamentally different, and so doesn’t count in terms of a special identity. It is true that I never knew what it was like to ONLY be with same sex partners. I can empathize but that’s not the same, so I respected the argument back when it came up. I am not, never been, big on labels. Hence why picking one for myself generated a disclaimer lol.
My first thoughts were it's Sherlock Holmes (perhaps Basil Rathbone, maybe Jeremy Brett) doing a mental reconstruction of a crime scene.
"She goes to the opening of an envelope. Noticing that it has been expertly sliced with a very keen blade, she naturally looks towards the accruements of her husband's writing desk, only to discover that the Damascene letter opener, which was positively placed there by the butler only the night before has vanished!"
But that didn't seem right. Then I realized that this is The Josh Slocum Movie Club. It took me a solid minute to get that it was one catty woman throwing shade at another for her social pretensions. Got to put a bit of snarky stink on the "SHE".
I only come here for the BPD and the collapse of Western Civilization; I'll leave the "Friends of Dorothy" stuff to others.
- As much as it sounds like the sort of deliciously snippy quip one would expect from Margo Channing, I am quite positive that it is a quote from Death Becomes Her.
- 46 years ancient and male (last time I checked).
- I am straight despite appreciating all things camp and kitsch.
42, f, straight, Death Becomes Her!
Dang it you beat me by 5 minutes!
20s, F, straight, DEATH BECOMES HER!!!

42, F, Het, omg I love that movie. My sister and I watched it obsessively when we were tweens.
Apparently wrong, but: ALL ABOUT EVE, 54, M, Gay as a goose.
HONK
56, m, gay. I know now I was wrong but I had it as something Saffie would have said about Edina and/or Patsy in AbFab ... because they would have.
This is so accurate. I can hear it in their voices... Saffy, Patsy, or the brassy editor of Patsy’s magazine. Magda I think?
Magda, played by Kathy Burke.
"If the model's get any younger Pats they'll be chuckin' fe'uses down the cat walk."
The facelift episode is my firm favourite. Hello magazine: ‘and where are we now?’. Patsy: ‘in my gracious drawing room’.
"It is a miracle that I can walk at all. I bless the wonder of life and the newness of living."
😆
A year older than Josh
Straight and female
"Sunset Boulevard."
Younger people are getting it right. Good! Not all is lost.
Oh this is fun. More comments please!
Synchronicities. I had a conversation about EXACTLY this line 2 hours before the post. Now I know what I’m watching tonight!
37, straightish, Death Becomes Her
All about that ish gurl
I had no idea....

You're supposed to scream that I'm ERASING BISEXUAL PEOPLE, block me, and tell all your friends I'm "dangerous."
I'm disappointed in you, Dorothy!

Oh, I didn't think you were. I'm sorry if it came across that way. I meant to light-heartedly joke with you:)
Ah! My bad. Internet lesson!
50, M, straighter than a razor's edge.
Absolutely no idea.

All About Eve. I'm 65, straight with a degree in Theater Arts.

I feel surly because I don't know the answer! I'm 46, female, and straight. Total milktoast.
