At the risk of being maudlin, I wish I had a mother to give love to. I tried for many years, but it was not to be. For a long time, I loved my mother very, very much. It was a source of sadness that she never believed it, never accepted it, and did not return it.

So I wish the good mothers happiness instead. Motherhood is a good and pure thing, or at least it should be. Many of you exemplify it.

I know you don't want pity, so all I will say is that in some way I can't articulate, there's a real Maternal spirit that exists in the world and that other people can still channel some of that to you as you go through life. I'm throwing some your way right now.

☺️Thank you! I wish my powers as a mother who did the best she could to raise a happy and successful son were strong enough to gas up the Way-Back Machine, and make your mom the kind of mother you could celebrate today with. But...on the other hand, and no thanks to your mother, but possibly because of her, you've become the kind of man I would be more than happy to call my son.🤗

Josh, my 2022 novel (not trying to shill) is a long meditation on a mother's love for her infant son. I'd like to send you a copy, but I don't have your address. I think it might be healing for you to read. DM me and I'll put one in the mail. Also, there are many beautiful images of Mary, whom Catholics a gentle and loving mother to all of us. Consider selecting a few that speak to you & putting them in your house where you can see them often. Just a suggestion, disregard if it doesn't seem like your thing. Have a good day and thank you for your words for mothers.

I second this. What a beautiful and wonderful comment - as usual, Humdeedee.

Thank you. I'm not too good at expressing endearments unless I truly mean them. I don't know Josh personally, but the Josh I read and watch tells me all I (we) need to know and why we want to include him in our virtual lives. He's a good man😊, but I don't need to tell you that.

And everyone should know what a kind person you are. Everyone, Humdee was the one who organized the fundraiser that brought in 17,000 dollars to help me rebuild the downstairs of a flood-destroyed home. Without her, and without the kindness of so many who donated to a perfect stranger, I wouldn't have anywhere to live.

Thank you.

Thank you, Josh. I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday, and that you're proud of yourself (if not, that's okay, I'll allow myself to be it for you just this once, in a non-patronizing, peer way). Not succumbing to bitterness after dealing with you know what is quite the feat. 💙

I'm plenty bitter and screwed up, don't think I'm not:) But there is a limit. I won't let the tragedy of childhood make me forget what family is supposed to be. I did that for too many years.

My mom did a pretty good job--did her best, at any rate. She could sometimes be very loving. I've missed her the past nineteen years.

Thank you for sharing your instinct to love by sending your well-wishes. I wish you had the mom you would have been most delighted to know. Your (and Kevin’s) work is so important for those of us lucky enough to find you to be able to see the “faults in our own stars” and learn how to be the best children to our parents and parents to our children that we can be.

Josh I know this is a tough day for you. But never forget the hope you give many of us that have seen our world turned upside down because of this evil and insanity. Personally you keep me sane when I see how the “T” has destroyed the “G” and the “G” has just let it happen. Maybe we need a Truth Teller Day.

Nice to see the word “mother” here! And yes, it’s a full time job for a woman..with a little help or more from her husband or partner. But I wouldn’t give it up for anything! Here’s to all moms !
