Shredder is one of those cats you just know is a “person”. I get that uncanny feeling looking at him sometimes that he knows exactly what’s going on, and that he thinks in full, complete English sentences. Leaving aside sentimental anthropomorphization, he’s as much a king among cats as he looks. Neighborhood bruiser who defends his territory (and tries to claim that all other-cat-base-are-belong-to-him), expert hunter who brings home the bacon to the back step (OK, shrews), and comes home to his papa and his smol kitty.
Off the subject of kitty but could you who pray please put in a word for success in the Texas Senate State Affairs committee hearing on a bill to prohibit mutilating surgery and puberty blocking treatment of minors tomorrow(Thursday). It is the next step in protecting Texas kids and we are up against a pack of evil ideologies that come out of the woodwork and scream bloody murder every time anyone suggests such protections. If you are in the Austin area, come to the Capitol and register your opinion on the kiosk.
There's a saying referring to dogs, but I'll paraphrase because I think it applies equally to cats. It goes like this: we need a cat in our lives because they help us to be human. I think you proved that Josh.
He is definitely regal! I have one that cuddles and wants to help my ply my artistic talents and one that looks on in distain that I have invaded his space in the studio. Cats are great!
I don’t know if there’s a way to message you through Substack, so please forgive me for just posting here. Feel free to delete, of course. Rhyd has written some great articles about the psychology behind current left politics. I had never heard or read the word “Ressentiment” prior to reading one of his pieces. I think you might like his work. These in particular are my favorites; I’ve been sharing them far and wide:
Just a couple of gentlemen enjoying their morning coffee. ❤️

Josh, I love your crocheted blanket!
He has the MOST regal king like face. The angles of it really do make him look human. Like King Arthur.

Oh my, he really does have a kingly visage.🥰
Two magnificent males!
Gorgeous kitty! You’re looking good, too. 🤗. I had a cat like that once upon a time. Alex. He understood me.
Soooo cute 🥺
Such a regal, imperious looking cat! You’re lucky to be his subject.

Thank you again for all you’re doing ❤️
Cats are awesome little companions. Just as loyal and people oriented as dogs, but less likely to kill themselves in stupid ways, lol. Sweet pic ❤️
