A good maybe 10 years ago, people still talked about Gavin de Becker and his book Gift of Fear. I don't hear it mentioned anymore and I wonder why. It's a great instruction manual on how to pay attention to fear signals and the common manipulation techniques used by predators.
Giving it some deeper thought now, I suppose we're at a point where we think humans are entirely nutured into who they are and there is no such thing as nature, therefore predators can't behave in universally recognized ways nor can normal people have a universal ability to detect those behaviors.
