Disaffected, Episode 150, December 16, 2023 Live chat premiere on Rumble at 8 pm US Eastern -Surprise guest cohost! -The White House's "Dr." Jill Biden has released the annual Christmas video, apparently directed by Stanley Kubrick. This video has *everything*: gurning Gen Z dancers, canned foley tap-dance sounds, and giant stupid flowers on heads for no discernible reason.
That White House video is America's version of Alexander Sokurov's masterpiece "Russian Ark," an 87-minute single take historical reenactment of events taking place while the narrator wanders through the Winter Palace (part of the Hermitage) in Saint Petersburg. Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV1kphEEXn8 then ask yourself whether we're a serious country.
It reminds me of the Christmas scenes in "The City of Lost Children" by French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. But a dystopian nightmare Christmas is really weirdly appropriate for this White House.
Josh, the automation in modern cars is worthless at best, and dangerous at worst.
I had to do a lot of traveling last year. As a result, I was driving lots of rental cars.
The first one I was in, almost got me into an accident! It had that lane assist "feature," that's the marketing term, not mine.
As I'm headed down the highway, in a place I've never been before, there's one of those orange water barrels in my lane up ahead. There were no cars to the left of me, so I gently started to move into the left lane to get around the barrel, when the car starts steering me back into the barrel! Obviously I could overcome it, but not knowing it was on, I could see someone running into something on the road.
After that, I had an issue with that damn engine off when stopped "feature." You go to pull out into traffic, and the damn car has to start first. So you have a massive delay, and might jet out into traffic late, causing a accident.
I worked as a mechanic for 10 years before moving to a different line of work, so I've driven hundreds of different cars. But I'm 100% unimpressed with the newer vehicles.
The very first thing I do, is turn off all of the driving assist features.
Found a great new word I think you're going to love, which I just got from Michael Shellenberger. It perfectly describes people like you and me. It's "leftugee." Rhymes with refugee.
Not bad, huh?
PS: I am avoiding twitter. I got tired of dealing with feminists who can only see objections to abortion as covert attempts to control women. I get more done when I'm not on it anyway but, man, those bitches are psycho. I'm certain this is news to you.
I’ve always been limited – up to a certain time, 12 wks was the limit in most Scandinavian countries (I’m from Iceland) for years & years – pro-abortion rights, but I’ve just about had it up to HERE with this discussion. You’d think the only way to prevent pregnancy was 100% abstinence from sex, but we literally have a smörgåsbord of contraceptives. If you are having sex, you have a responsibility to do your best to prevent pregnancy if you don’t want it. But mention “responsibility,” and the pro-abortion lobby goes nuts. No, you can’t have abortion up until birth. No civilized society allows that. These crazies are willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING at the abortion altar, including having the transpest poisoning society. As for now, I’m willing to give up the LIMITED abortion rights campaign if that’s what it takes to get rid of the trans pest.
We’ve moved on from narcissism. We now live in the world of opposite. The people that claim this planet is part of a simulation might be right. At best we’ve become a feature on the 50s matinee of Creature Feature.

Not for some years now.

Josh: did you know that Rod Dreher has quoted you approvingly on his Substack re: the depraved use of the Senate chamber?
No, I did not. Thank you. I may not be able to see it if it's behind a paywall.
He quoted your entire tweet, with attribution and link
Thanks for letting me know.

I love it. I’m gonna use it. Thank you!

I don’t care if the porn filmed in the Capitol was gay or straight. It’s the same thing as sneaking into my home and filming a porn tape for public distribution. It shows an obscene lack of respect for the public and everything most of us hold sacred, which includes or used to include our institutions. When these fu©kwits dump portapotty contents somewhere in the Capitol I won’t be surprised. (Also, made me think stats: 5.5% or 7% (depending on sources) of the US population identify as LGB ”TQ”. I wonder what % of US Congressional staffers identify as LGB “TQ”).
