I did not realize that Daniel Dennett passed away until I listened to this episode. In addition to being one of the first people I read who challenged Sam Harris and a kind of pseudointellectualism (regarding his book Free Will), Dennett is known for promoting "Rapoport's Rules." They are a set of principles about how to engage in productive discourse. https://www.rightattitudes.com/2017/06/16/rapoport-rules-criticism/

One of those "rules" is to be able to make your opponent's argument so well the opponent would say "I couldn't have said it better myself." The point is to understand the argument that you are challenging--something overlooked all the time in politics, at work, and at home.

I didn't know either. He died in April. I liked him.

You on the one hand said that you hoped Biden didn’t drop out (because Gavin Newsom might win) and then you said his being President put us in danger.

If Biden is mentally incapacitated, then he needs to step down, or the 25th Amendment should be invoked. The election is a secondary concern.

I don’t understand why this is not obvious (well, maybe I do, but the point remains).
