Yay, I get to be your first endorsement here! My conversation with Josh gave me the validation I needed to finally 'let go' of my grief over my only child's near total estrangement. It is so very healing to be fully 'heard' by someone who sees through all the cultural bs.
I’m lucky that I don’t have anybody “difficult” to deal with. But this insanity is mind boggling. Then there’s people around you that agree with it or don’t think it will ever impact them. Like my brother who swears they will never come for his beloved guns. I’ve had to cool some relationships (gay) because they’ve drank the woke koolaid and I’ve just gotten to the point I don’t want to argue. Latest example is the Trump conviction. Sometimes the best company is yourself or a good new “resource” like Josh.
I just saw something on the Hoover Institution's YouTube channel which the gang 'round here might want to see.
One of their programs is "Uncommon Knowledge." Their latest offering, which has been up for a couple of hours, is an hour long interview with the great British journalist and, I think, moral leader, Douglas Murray.
If you follow Murray, you know that since October 7th, he's spent most of his time in covering the Israeli/Hamas war. In the interview he has some amusing and disgusted things to say about the pro Hamas demonstrators in the United States, and the word, "narcissistic," is not absent from his vocabulary.
Maybe someday when I have the funds, but I’ll tell my friends who are more flush whom to call.
Unrelated topic: I wonder if you’re familiar with this person -- Sam -- on YT (as well as with maybe the great writer Celia Farber who posted Sam’s video today).
You are not Sam, and Sam I am not either but his insights into abuse, childhood and maturity go far beyond trans/detrans or gender etc. For ex., one quote: “I clothed myself in my mother,” in order, he says, to escape deeply destructive circumstances (putting it mildly). The vid is full of extraordinary moments like that, though he speaks very directly and with immediacy, not as someone aspiring to be literary or rhetorical at all.
My consult with Josh exceeded my expectations. I found Josh to be intuitive, thoughtful and easy to talk to. The input he gave was very helpful and complimented well with the work I'm doing in therapy.
My son's 2nd-grade teacher was the first I knew to say I could ask a WWYD (what would you do) question to see what my reaction to the answer would be (this was a general discussion, not about my student). It has proved to be helpful input to some situation with too many possibilities (like, all of them). I would present the question honestly and encourage my person to answer without too much angst. I just want to feel the answer.
I haven't thought about this for a while. What would you do?
You are such a precious soul.

I'm glad to know our talk was helpful, Joanie!
Very!
What do you charge Josh?
Standard rate is $125 for an hour. $95 for those who financially support Disaffected.
I will lower rates to meet a client's needs if money is an issue.

"Hey doc, it hurts when I do this"
