I'm very sorry to hear this. I met Karlyn on Facebook some years ago when she created a group called "BTD" (for 'bridge the divide'), with the purpose of enabling serious conversations between liberals and conservatives. It functioned for some time before she left to engage in other forms of social media, so I was familiar with the history she later related in the Prager U video. A member of the original group created a new version, which is active today, and actually does succeed from time to time in getting some serious cross-ideology discussions going.

Interesting. She was someone I tuned into for a while, but stopped because I felt something about her was “off”. I can’t recall exactly what she said or did but it was important enough to make a major negative impression on me.

I think you’re right to lay this all out.

Same here. When she started talking shit to her audience I was like see you creepy. I always had the vibe that she was possibly grifting conservatives but figured I could be wrong, and I wasn’t.

Would be nice if we could trust everyone on the “right”. No such luck.

Your joke was funny.

This article is a perfect example of intelligent, sometimes charismatic Cluster Bs. For those lucky enough to not have experience dealing with these types (or are too naive to believe people like this actually exist), this is an excellent primer.

Side note: Nancy Mace always rubbed the wrong way. I'm glad to see some on the right calling out her attention-seeking. I'm curious what you think about her.

Great job in summarizing this story. You didn't mention the literal BOOK she wrote about Keri. The way she picks targets and is relentless is quite exceptional.

I did her show after my article about coming out for voting Trump. It was my first podcast interview and it was enjoyable. She was doing interesting and valuable work. I don't know what happened for the mask to come off. All of this is self inflicted. Nobody decent will want to work with her.

I see a lot of jealousy in her actions. She seems jealous of other people's relationships, judged by who she targets. I don't know why people want to watch this performative bullshit. The dog stuff was over the top as was the superchat shilling. I've no problem with people earning money for their work but she is just about her her her. I don't think she appreciates donations or has a sense of gratitude.

So why are people following her?

I'm almost afraid to publish this, that I might be targeted. But that's all the more reason to do so. She's a big fat bully.

The doll did need a dead dog. All four feet in the air. With a beer.

Don’t worry Josh. We’re not duped. I mean, who says Jews enjoyed the Holocaust and then collabs with Prager U? She’s obviously fishing for whatever notoriety she can get. It’s evident in her creepy stare.

Excellent article, Josh. I believe you hit the nail on the head. I blocked her ages ago, as I was familiar with her from other platforms, though not with the Cluster B framework that you have in your article. I simply sensed that she was not someone I liked or would want to have any contact with, so I blocked her.

As for her screaming at her viewers, is that the secret to making money? You yell obscenities and behave abusively toward your viewers? I cannot imagine anyone giving her a dime after she did that, why on earth would they? 🙄

Anyway, good job. 👍🏻

She goes beyond mere narcissism into “ideas of reference.” Is that more like paranoid personality disorder?

I made friends with someone online, even to the point of hanging with her IRL, because she was witty and intelligent and fun.

And then in a forum where I wasn’t present, she drove them so insane they kicked her out, and she seemed to change: obsessed with vengeance, she created over 100 gmail accounts to join the group and harass the members. She saw it as “self defense.”

She was raised by two parents who waged all-out war against each other, using the kids as pawns, and sometimes it got so intense the kids called the cops on the parents.

As a result, she was hypervigilant against slights and believed that any action she took to protect herself was justified, no matter how insane.

They call it “paranoid personality disorder,” but it’s not like paranoia the psychosis. PPDs don’t think that the CIA put listening devices in their molars, they just think that they know everyone’s motives, and that it’s only a matter of time before someone betrays you.

PPDs are the ones who file endless lawsuits against people for the slightest thing. They’re often classified as “vexatious litigants.” And they might also take things personally that weren’t directed at them.

I skipped through most of this. Watched the 50 sec video where she swears at her audience. No one with a serious compelling argument needs to resort to swearing. It´s put me off a few youtubers. Two others I now have my doubts about are Kellie Jay Keane and Gary Stevenson. Stevenson runs the gary´s economics YT blog...Not sure if their motivation is effecting systemic change, building their brand or in KJK´s case selling merchandise.

When I first heard you made a joke about a dead dog, and I was thinking..."hmm." I hear the joke and laugh. It's funny. And I have to say just because you mentioned the dead dog does not make it a joke ABOUT the dog. It wasn't a joke about Honey (who is now not a dead dog but a spirit), it was a joke about KB, clearly. I didn't notice any real tears in the clips you showed of KB. I agree with your assessment. It doesn't look like mourning. My two dogs have now died, and I did all my mourning in private. I cannot imagine the gall to make livestreams about the dog dying, and personally I DO think letting your dog drink is negligent. Spot on.

I know you've been dealing with her accusations for years without mentioning her on the show and I've been watching as long as all of this. I remember when Over the Borderline came out new and waiting for part II. Since I knew about her (after following Keri's work as well), I know this is the first time you've come out and named her. I was shocked when this episode started. Mostly because I know how it's going to fuel her.... and I know you know that.

I blocked her on Twitter back in the day because I didn't want her even knowing I existed. I get not wanting to draw attention to yourself which is what happens when you do finally name her, but she was imagining it from the get go. I hope this can serve as a warning to others who think they know her.

I like animals a lot more than people, but that was funny lol if she’s using that to make money when other people are really devastated when they lose their pets, then she is in the wrong. I didn’t see any kind of tears either. I would not have been able to have done that show if my pet just died. It seems phony to me.

Great article.

I can’t remember how I came across Karlyn B, but I did consume some of her content. There was something unsettling about her that I couldn’t quite pin, (in addition to the annoying relentless grift for cash) and I tuned out.

I listened to her for a while and she had some good points, but was totally turned off by how she yelled and attacked her own followers. She left the left, but the leftist way of going about things did not leave her. And don't get me started on the whole weird tarot card readings.

It's weird, because I don't know what drives people to extremes like that. Who has the time for that?

I'm sure that some media-types are following all of the US house and senate, waiting on someone to say something. But that's more or less their day job.

However, who has time to follow Josh Slocum on every media format he might be using? And why would you go around looking at everything he's ever said? This of course after thinking that something not about you -- was about you.

To me that's more like stalker-type creep-ass stuff right there.

I saw her video about the Harvard professors talking about the activism course. That was interesting, but then there was another stream where she was pushing people for money. It made me think of PBS from the 1980s! I was waiting on her to start mentioning coffee mugs and umbrellas. 😆😄😂

It might also have a lot to do with people who quit their normal day job, and then find out that they can't replace that income with social media. They get desperate.

Perhaps she figures, if she starts a fake feud with Josh Slocum, who has a lot of followers, maybe that will bring more people around?

Like you said, she probably doesn't believe what she's saying. It's far more likely a manipulation. Still very strange.
