1. Fresh Step unscented clumping litter. Everything else is a waste of money.
2. Teach the kids to love sweeping up around the litter box.
3. Feed the cats canned wet food, not kibble. No kibble, no matter what it claims, is good for cats. None. They are obligate carnivores. Kitty keto, not carbs.
I also buy Fresh Step unscented and give my 3 indoor and one outdoor cat canned food once a day and dry food the other time, to scrub their teeth. I mix the outdoor cat's wet food with a bit of water. He laps it up like soup. He leans against our front door and goes flying as we open it so we try to remember open the door slowly.

I fondly recall those mornings of snuggles, cuddles and purrs. Now I wake up to the raucous song of the tiny house wren who has a nest in the alcove of my balcony. For such a tiny bird with a little pointy beak and perky tail it rivals all but crows with its big voice. 🙉
