Unrelated, I saw The Birdcage on PBS, it is also free on youtube. This is an awesome movie, love it love it love it!

One of my favorite songs by Madonna - lyrics especially. It recalls a past relationship for which goodbye was the only option, and yes, the power of goodbye gives the user the strength of resolve.

This is so obvious that it must have been addressed somewhere on this substack, and I just missed it: is "Borderline" about Madonna being a Borderline? The Wikipedia entry just says Reggie Lucas wrote it for Madonna, whom he described as "the weirdest person I'd ever met." I don't know if BDP was really in the public consciousness then, though (even now it isn't). "Borderline / Feels like I'm going to lose my mind..."
