CORRECTION: We already know that we got it wrong about the parent we discuss in this episode. We understand that he is a man, and that we made a mistake. Josh will talk about this in more detail on the upcoming show.
-We discuss the leaked pages from the "manifesto" of the Nashville Covenant School shooter, Audrey Hale, who murdered three kids and three adults on March 27, 2023. Podcaster Steven Crowder released the images after a confidential source leaked them. Yeah, they say about what you'd expect: kill the white kid with privilege.
-As Burlington, Vermont, descends into the dystopia of sidewalk homeless encampments, open crack-smoking in public, murder, and theft, the city will spend $50,000 on a PR campaign to make shoppers "feel" safe. No, they're not proposing hiring cops to actually make us safe.
-Maternal sexual abuse of boy children is A-OK with us. It's so OK that a deranged blue-haired mother felt comfortable filming her stark-naked self in her living room among her children in order to show off the pretty trans-colors flag she got for "trans parents day."
The etiquette / social skill thing is SO true. A lot of the anxiety young men and women have about dating is that there is no longer any kind of dating etiquette. Everything has to be negotiated from scratch, and I'm not just talking about sex.
And the people it hurts the most are the people who have less of an instinct about human relationships. Especially since a lot of etiquette is arbitrary and culturally determined. And no, most of the "arbitrary" has nothing to do with sex roles, yada, yada. Some cultures, you shake hands, some you bow. Vulgarity is scatalogical some places, disease related some places, sex related other places. You either pick this stuff up by observation or being directly taught or by instinct (the latter which means you observe without being conscious of what you're observing). Because Judith Martin is right -- acting badly will get you isolated. Even if you have no idea what you're doing wrong.
I especially liked this episode, Josh. I shared it in multiple places.
As far as the nekkid person, plenty of women act inappropriately sexual around their kids. I know because my mom did shit like that. The point stands.
