Joanie was smart and she explained why she was making this schlock. As best as I can remember it, she said, "I can sit at my kitchen table and say, 'Here I am, Joan Crawford, the legendary film star for four decades.' I can stay in my kitchen and console myself while life moves on. Or I can get out there and work at my craft, even if the film doesn't meet my standards. I'd rather be a working actor than a retired legend."

She's such a fabulous monster! We used to have a wonderful (very obviously gay) movie aficionado and movie trivia expert called Bill Collins on TV several times a week late at night in Australia, presenting all these marvellous (and some marvellously dreadful, like this one) classic movies on his show: "The Golden Years of Hollywood". He's the reason I would stay up late and end up late for school the next day (apart from the fact that my mother was out till all hours tripping the light fantastic with her latest sociopathic or semi-neanderthal "hunk"). Bill Collins absolutely worshipped Joan Crawford and Bette Davis (among others). Wouldn't hear a word against the former (I don't remember anyone sledging Bette Davis so he didn't need to defend her). I wish that show was still airing!
