I agree. But I see more and more signs of hope. The bastards will never be crushed...they will always be with us...but today I think we are starting to win.

I love the Carpenters now. I wish my Cluster B mother had played their songs badly on the piano when she was feeling morose rather than Englebert Humperdinck. Wait. No. She would have ruined that for me too. Thank GOD she only ever butchered After The Lovin’ and tragically Roberta Flack.

I loved the Carpenters then, and I love them still. Karen had an incredible voice - she had near perfect pitch. Not a lot of studio "clean up" for her. Plus, she was an excellent drummer. She seemed so genuine. It makes me sad knowing now what her life was like, what she hid.

I, too, have been traipsing down Nostalgia Way for weeks now except via the old TV shows I watched as a kid/teen/young adult. It's an escape to a simpler, kinder time - at least in my mind.

I love listening to old songs like this! They do invoke peace feelings. Karen Carpenter was a force. I've been enjoying some John Denver myself - he was my older sisters favorite so I heard him a lot as a teen. Both John and Karen had such clear and beautiful voices. Denver has double happy memories for me because I used to travel *that* country road every day back in the 80s. It was a beautiful road and a peace drive into work. Besides, I certainly would like country roads to take me back home, thankyouverymuch. Sadly, now it's built up, just like everything else is here in the metro area.

My husband and I have been enjoying old shows as well. Rockford Files has been part of our recent viewing rotation.

A voice that is so rare there are generations that haven't heard it. Kinda like the generations that don't know what civility is.

They were my faves. I have a vinyl record that I would love to play but I need some new speakers for my Pioneer turntable and amp.
