Josh the mother you should have had you didn’t have. That has naturally left a hole. But you’ve put that emptiness and appropriate anger to good use. Every week you point out the hypocrisy of people that claim to be on the side of good but are in fact evil. As I get older the irrational state of our country and Western culture in general bothers me more. I miss the days of before and if honest the youth that went with it. Having someone like you validate seeing what I’m also seeing gives me comfort. Because there are times I think the world is mad and few see it. Something out of a 1980s Movie of the Week.

Oh, my.

"Many years later, Mother would scuttle that friendship by having an affair with Susan’s son when she was old enough to be his mother. "

Did she initiate him into adulthood, so to speak?

Because I've heard from guys who were seduced by an older woman when they were teens, and they universally complain that they are plagued by intense, intrusive thoughts about sex. They're highly distressed by it, thinking they must be the worst kinds of pervs, and enduring crushing guilt over it.

Everyone dismisses them, saying, "Oh, that's how all guys are," but they are sure it's worse for them. The pastor introduces his wife, and the guy immediately has intense fantasies about her that he can't seem to block from his mind.

Everyone gets why the 40-year-old man needs to keep his hands off the 14-year-old girl -- because of the distress to her -- but reverse the sexes and it's a locker-room joke.

No way can it be good for a teen boy to be seduced by an older woman. And there's a good chance that any woman who does it is Cluster B.
